Al Salam Championship: Pedaling Progress in Dubai
The Al Salam Championship is a prestigious annual cycling competition held in Dubai between November and February. Since its inception in 2017, the event has been organized by The Private Office of H.H. The Ruler of Dubai and takes place under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
As the largest cycling event of its kind in the region, the Al Salam Championship plays a crucial role in nurturing the growth of the sport, fostering a strong cycling culture, and encouraging a healthy lifestyle across communities.
The event offers race categories for both amateur and professional cyclists, welcoming men and women alike. With over 1,000 participants annually — including Emirati nationals, residents, and elite cyclists from across the GCC — the championship stands as a symbol of inclusivity and competitive spirit.
Beyond the thrill of the race, the championship highlights Dubai’s stunning natural landscapes, with routes passing through Saih Al Salam and the Al Marmoum Nature Reserve — a sanctuary for wildlife lovers and fitness enthusiasts. The course features a dedicated 150-kilometer cycling track, offering a scenic yet challenging experience for riders.
With its unwavering commitment to sport, community, and sustainability, the Al Salam Championship continues to be a landmark event on Dubai’s sporting calendar, celebrating both athletic excellence and the beauty of the UAE’s natural environment.
